APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A man who stabbed his pregnant girlfriend and killed her 3-year-old daughter will be eligible for parole after 40 years.
Demetrius Williams, 24, received a mandatory life sentence in the homicide case Friday after pleading no contest to the crimes in January. For injuring his girlfriend, he was sentenced to 40 years in prison and 20 years extended supervision, to be served at the same time as his life sentence.
Williams killed Zyana Corbin, and stabbed her mother, Tiana, on Feb. 27, 2020, in Appleton. Tiana was pregnant with Williams’ child. Williams became upset when she said she no longer wanted to be in a relationship with him.
Williams was also convicted of taking a hostage during a subsequent escape attempt from the Outagamie County Jail. For that crime, he was sentenced to five years in prison and five years on extended supervision, to be served after his life sentence.
Williams and Matthew Beyer – who is in custody for allegedly killing his two children at their Kaukauna home – tried to escape from the Outagamie County Jail in June. They did not escape the cellblock, much less the building. Beyer is scheduled to stand trial Nov. 29.
