MENASHA, WI (WTAQ) — Menasha Fire Crews grappled with a fire at the US Paper Mill on Tayco Street this morning. Fire Chief Kevin Kloehn says it started around 6:00 this morning inside of a paper machine and spread up through the vent towards the roof.
“The biggest concern is that because it’s an open area, you have to stop the spread as quickly as possible,” Kloehn told WTAQ. “They did a great job with getting the fire knocked out and then stopping the spread.”
No injuries were reported. No word yet on the extent of damage to the mill, or how the fire started. Appleton fire crews assisted Menasha but have since left. Several roads were still closed and Menasha crews were still on scene as of 9:30 this morning.
