KAUKAUNA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Supporters of President Trump held a convoy Saturday afternoon, driving from Kaukauna, to De Pere, to Green Bay.
“We fully support what the president and what our officers have done and are doing. There always is going to be a bad apple in the crowd, no matter what profession you’re in,” said convoy organizer Scott, who declined to give his last name.
“There are others my same skin color that do vote for Trump. We want to continue to go forward with our movement,” Dan Abdallah of Oshkosh said.
Convoy members say they’re disappointed President Trump’s rally at the Austin Straubel airport was canceled, but they understand why.
FOX 11 asked Wilkins if his view of COVID-19 has changed since the president’s diagnosis.
“No, it’s been the same throughout. When it first came out I said it’s a flu,” Wilkins said.
Tammy Scovronski also had tickets to the president’s rally.
“Things happen, it’s out of our control. I don’t hold any animosity about it at all,” Scovronski said.
Scovronski says she thinks the president will be okay, and her opinion of COVID-19 hasn’t changed.
“Yes, it can be severely harmful to people, but the majority of people have very light symptoms, nothing major going on,” Scovronski said.
The state is continuing to see a record number of new COVID-19 cases. State health officials are urging Wisconsinites to take COVID-19 seriously to stop the spread.
“Each of us can take action to stop the spread. We can wear a mask and stay home as much as possible. Wisconsin is at a critical moment in this pandemic and we each need to double down and help stop the spread,” Andrea Palm, Wisconsin Department of Health Services Secretary-Designee, said.
“Stay steadfast president. Keep going, rest up, and we will be voting for you in November,” Abdallah said.
