MADISON, WI (Wisconsin Radio Network) – A coalition of ag groups will be at the Capitol Thursday, as they hope to convince the state Senate to approve a package of bills to aid Wisconsin farmers and processors.
Rebekah Sweeney is with the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association: “Our farmers and our processors need senate action to strengthen and stabilize our industry. We’re going to have a group of 16 advocacy organizations for the Ag community coming together and calling on senators to help us further build that will to support both our dairy farmers and our crop farmers at a critical point.”
There are 14 bills in all. “We are united in our hope for action. The list is short, but the list is very important,” Sweeney said.
The bills were approved by the Assembly last month.
The state Senate plans to meet just once more later this month, before ending its session for the year.
